Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How strong are your hairpin legs? Will they be strong enough for my project?
A: The legs are very strong! For example, a set of 4 8" legs can be used on a couch or bench that holds 3 or more adults.

Q: Should I opt for the third rod on the legs for my project?
A: The third rod makes the legs more stiff than traditional hairpin legs. These legs are ideal for desks and dining room tables. Of course some people order them just becase they like the look of the third rod.

Q: What's the difference between raw steel and stainless steel?
A: Other than the visual difference (see photo), raw steel has a rougher, more unfinished look, while stainless steel has a higher polish and more finished look.

Q: Will my legs rust?
A: Raw steel will rust if left untreated. You can either paint them, or if you would like to retain the raw look, apply a clear sealer or wax. Stainless steel does not rust.

Q: What are the dimentions and layout of the base plates?
A: The base plates are L-shaped in raw steel. They are 4 3/4" x 4 3/4" drilled with 3 holes for #10 screws.

Q: What size screws should I use?
A: #10 pan head screws. The length of the screws depends on the material to are mounting the legs to. Ideally, you should choose as long a screw as possible.
